Breed Information - Bracco Italiano (Italian Pointer)

The Bracco Italiano was a popular breed during the Renaissance period and was often given as a gift from Italy to countries such as France and Spain. One of the oldest surviving gun dog breeds, the Bracco Italiano has recently undergone a revival in it's homeland.

The body of the Bracco Italiano resembles other pointer breeds but its face is very distinctive, the ears are set low and far back and its muzzle is square. It shows very clear signs of its origins from ancient hound stock.

The Bracco Italiano tends to be a little stubborn but is generally responsive and loyal
